The DEEPSEA CHALLENGER during a test dive.

In part 2 of our series, we introduced you to the Bathyscaphe Trieste and its journey to reach Challenger Deep. However, this wasn't to be the last time mankind would see the bottom of the ocean. A little over 50 years  had gone by since the Bathyscaphe Trieste made history on that fateful afternoon in January of 1960, and hollywood mega-producer/writer/director James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar, Terminator, ext....) was climbing into the submersible that he was sure would remake history. Enter DEEPSEA CHALLENGER, a single pilot 24 ft submersible built for one very specific task, to go to the bottom of the ocean and study it.

    Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay

When you think of most extreme locations on the planet, what do you think of? If you ask most people what they think of as the most they would say an area that mankind doesn't go, area's inaccessible for human exploration. In this context two places instantly come to mind, the top of Mount Everest, and the bottom of the Mariana Trench in the Pacific Ocean.
